Cost of shipping

The cost of shipping merchandise varies greatly depending on the size and weight of the package you are sending. Please follow the guidelines below to estimate the rates that apply to your shipment.

Calculating transportation rates

Air Inuit uses both the actual weight and the dimensional weight to calculate the applicable charges; the greater value between the two will be applied.

Calculating dimensional rates

To calculate the dimensional weight of your shipment in kilograms, multiply the length, width and height of the package (in centimetres) and divide the total by 6,000.

Declared value

  • When a declared value is requested on the waybill, a charge of $1.00 per $100 of that declared value will be levied. Certain restrictions apply.
  • The limited liability per kilogram will be increased based on the weight of the shipment and the amount declared on the waybill.
  • Some exceptions apply in the case of food, tobacco, alcohol and carvings, for example. For more information about our limited liability policy or applicable exceptions, please contact Air Inuit cargo services or refer to the Cargo Rates and Tariff.
  • Claims for loss or damage will be calculated based on the weight of those parts or pieces of a shipment that were lost or damaged.
  • If the declared value of the goods shipped is not specified on the waybill, the amount of liability will not exceed $1.10 per kilogram in the event of damage or loss.
